Description

This presentation will dive into the new regulation requiring resource families to demonstrate ability and willingness to meet the needs of a child regardless of the child's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression (SB407). We will review best practices on how to assess families for their ability to welcome an LGBTQ+ child in their home, as well as providing practical tips and supports. 

Objectives

  1. Participants will understand the mandates around SB407 and why it was passed.

  2. Participants will learn what questions to ask and what to look for when they are assessing families around children's sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions (SOGIE).

  3. Participants will gain knowledge of what pitfalls to avoid when implementing SB407.
