Description

Serving male survivors requires approaches that recognize and address their unique experiences, needs, and challenges. Bias, stigma, social norms, and general thoughts on how we normalize care for male survivors has affected care and accessibility for many years. In this session participants will engage in understanding and discussions that lift the importance to understand the barriers that have caused harm.

Objectives

  1. List methods of dismantling myths surrounding male survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence.

  2. Describe strategies when creating a welcoming environment for serving male survivors.

  3. Name and speak to the barriers faced by male survivors.

  4. Describe an understanding how serving male survivors differs from serving female survivors.
